DAY 37 – Trail legs in sight

EN (for Czech scroll down):

We woke up shortly after 5am to watch the sunrise. The only drawback was that the sunrise was behind the mountain. We didn’t really get that right but there were still some nice colors in the sky all around. It was weird that Brooke wasn’t there, I mean this will be the new normal for us but we enjoyed having her around and hearing about all the different fun facts she would share with us. The morning was pretty chill with a few climbs and then a one long descent. Since we decided to see how it goes today we didn’t really pick a specific tensite. It was another sunny day so of course I had to put some sunscreen on. Still waiting for my medium caramel tan though. After our lunch break I was walking couple of minutes before the girls and all of a sudden I saw an animal on the trail ahead of us. First I thought yeah sure it is normal that a cat crosses a road or in this case the trail but then I realized where I was. It was a bobcat! Super cute and also rare to see. Afterwards I was mostly in front of the girls enjoying the views and the flow of the trail.

In the end we ended up doing 22 miles (35km) and with the breaks my phone was showing almost 39km since the morning. Wow, our second longest day yet. It was way better than the first one though (just before Idyllwild) and byw. it is likely that I am already getting my trail legs. That is a thing that happens if you’re walking for a long period of time. I still have to ask someone who already has them how would they describe the feeling. For me personally it is like my legs are detached from my body at some point. Even if the rest of my body is already tired my legs keep saying “don’t worry we got you” and are able to just carry me on further. Sure, during our lunch break I take my shoes off and stretch my feet as well but I can definitely feel that they have gotten way stronger. Not too mad about that to be honest. Some people get their trail legs halfway in their hike or way later. So if what I have been experiencing is really the sign of my trail legs appearance then I am all in for it.

CZ:
