Today I got up before my alarm – people were being a bit loud again. We got breakfast first and then I called my family since the WiFi connection was better today. It’s always really nice talking to them but I’m not gonna lie, I miss them so much. Afterwards I started packing my stuff and put the bear canister into my pack for the first time. It fit in vertically and Connie didn’t even look so big. Huge plus is that we don’t need to be carrying a lot of water. I also managed to take a shower and around noon we were ready to leave Kennedy Meadows and make our first steps towards the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The surroundings started slowly but surely changing although we were still walking on sand the first couple of miles.

It didn’t take long and we were walking along the river. All of a sudden we had nonstop access to water. What a luxury. At one point it looked like it might rain but after few droplets and couple of thunder it was all gone. We were slowly making our way up and the air was finally getting a bit colder the higher we got. Once we made it to the top we got a beautiful view of a meadow with mountains in the distance. We were making a good progress and I was enjoying my new shoes for the first time. The amount of cushioning will not stop to amaze me. We got to our tentsite before 7pm and it turned out to be next to a river as well so I dipped my feet in it for a bit. It felt amazing. We ate our dinners and since there were no mosquitos we decided to cowboy camp.
