The sunrise was of course stunning bit a little but rushed since Croco (the other German guy’s trail name) and Sinead got a bit stressed out by all the passing hikers and instead of hiking out at 7:00am we already started at 6:00am. It was only a few miles till the peak and since everything was still in the shade, all the snow fields were frozen enough to pass without any difficulties. Even the most challenging part – the chute – was easy to get through. Shortly after we made it to Forester Pass – the highest point on the PCT. We got an amazing view of the other mountains around us and well it was simply breathtaking. After taking a several photos we slowly started making our way down. The snow was already getting slushy but it was still relatively easy to traverse. The whole way down was just gorgeous. Sierra certainly hasn’t disappointed me yet. On the bottom we took a quick lunch but we had to get going since we had another pass ahead of us because we wanted to make it to Bishop this evening.

The next pass – Kearsarge Pass – wasn’t difficult to summit but it was already 3pm and well the energy in the afternoon isn’t the best. Somehow we managed to get to the top – around 3 800m – and then started descending. Overall we lost more than 2 000m in elevation! And two passes in one day! Pretty impressive. Once we got to the trailhead we were lucky enough to get a ride from a trail angel. However, it wasn’t just any ride. Me, Sinead and Ann were sitting in a camper van’s back part which means no windows so it got pretty dark and warm pretty soon. Thankfully we made it to Bishop I was surprised by the sudden change of temperature – 30 degrees Celsius at 8pm! We surely weren’t in the high mountains anymore since the town has something above 1 200m. We checked in to our motel, took a shower, ate a really good pizza and finally went to sleep.
