I woke up quite rested though few more hours would be great. We only had a mile (1,6km) left to the Glen Pass (3 644m) but that mile felt like forever. One hour later we were finally standing at the top. There were beautiful views all around us with some turquoise lakes on the bottom. After the summit we had to use our micro spikes for a while since the top was still snow covered and quite steep. We all managed to get to the lower snow free section safely and took a short snack break. Few miles lower we finally got to one of many today’s lakes. It looked amazing and at some point we even had to cross it through the water. Right after we decided to take a quick swim since it was already warm. It honestly felt amazing! From now on whenever there’s a chance and a lake I am going for a quick swim. We sat a bit longer in the sun till we continued.
Before our lunch break we had to do two more river crossings both of which were quite okay but we got our shoes wet anyway. During our break I tried to dry them but they were still a bit wet. Thankfully I am carrying my waterproof socks which come in really handy. In the afternoon we passed the 800 mile marker! That is 1 280km already. Right after we got to a really cool bridge that was built for hikers over a raging fast flowing river. We were all re grateful it was there. On our way up to the next pass – Pinchot Pass – we “only” had to do two more river crossings. Five in one day and the worse ones are still yet to come. Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly. Before 6pm we got to our tentsite where already some other hikers have set up their tents. We cowboy camped again (ofc) and made some dinner with a quick round of cards before going to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a rather short day since we have to get below Mather Pass (12,9miles=20,761 kilometres) so we can summit it on the next day’s morning.
