Well, although we agreed on leaving at 7am, most folks from the other tramily were far from being ready so me and Stefi got going alone. At first we had to cross a river on a log and then we had two climbs ahead of us. It wasn’t that hot yet so it went quite smoothly. At the summit I drink my Pepsi that I have been carrying with me since Tuolumne Meadows and man was it worth every gram. The only draw were the omnipresent mosquitoes. What a pain in the ass really. After 6 miles (9.6km) me and Stefi had to get some water so we stopped for a second and after a while Aces and Traffic Cone caught up on us. Afterwards we continued together till we picked a nice spot for lunch. It took about an hour till the others arrived. Aces was already leaving and told the others he will push a bit further and meet them in Kennedy Meadows North in two days. Shortly after me and Stefi got also going – again just us two. Stefi was a bit upset with Ann’s behavior and somehow the whole new big tramily isn’t working so great. The other group also has an Ann that over plans so it is pretty overwhelming at times to reach a mutual agreement. More opinions somehow complicates everything.

Before we reached the Dorothy Lake Pass, me and Stefi took a swim in the Dorothy Lake and it felt amazing! It didn’t take us long to reach  the 1 000 mile marker afterwards. That is 1 600km! Wow. What an accomplishment. We waited almost an hour for the others just so we could take a photo with Ann who we have been hiking with for the most part of the PCT so far. We will all make it to Pinecrest together and then we will see. Honestly, with all the new people and a bit chaotic planning me and Stefi might just continue on our own. Let’s see though. After the 1 000 mile marker, we continued 2 more miles (3.2km) till we got to our tentsite and man, the mosquitoes were relentless. Probably the worst they’ve been so far. Once we have reception we are going to order a mesh top and bottom. That’s settled. Today we did another long day (38km) and tomorrow we will get to Pinecrest where we plan on taking a zero.
