DAY 82 – Zero in Pinecrest

Even though my alarm was set to 8am, I got up already at 7:15am and saw thar everyone else was already up. Man people can’t really appreciate the zeros here. I was to the last one to grab some pancakes that Cookies made for us – they were delicious btw. – and afterwards I called my family. While Ann, Stefi and Lorenz went to the post office I took a shower and played some more piano. I am still in disbelief my wish of staying at a place with a piano really did come true. Around 1pm we borrowed Cookies’ kayaks and a paddle board and went to the lake. It was another warm sunny day – perfect day for a zero. There was again quite a lot of people at the lake but we found a free picnic table. First we got some burgers for a late lunch and then me and Lorenz went on the lake with the kayaks. That was absolutely amazing. I loved doing something else again other than hiking.

Once we got to the shore Ann and Stefi took the kayaks as well and I went on a paddle board. It was a tiny bit deflated so standing on it actually took some effort so most of the time I was just sitting on it and left my feet in the water. Compared to those Alpine lake, this one was really warm so me and Stefi ended up going for a nice long swim. Since the clock was about to hit 5:30pm we decided to slowly get back and this time borrow the bikes and ride to the store. Doing our resupply felt like fun for a change! Although riding back with two full bags was a bit of a challenge. For dinner Cookies made us delicious chicken with rice and veggies and then his signature ice cream with cookies as a dessert. What a life. After dinner we just chilled outside and discussed last week and shared some insights and feedback on what we did and did not like. That convo was a long time coming so I was happy I initiated it. This was definitely the best zero on trail yet.
