Today we had an early start again because we wanted to escape the heat as always. The night at the lake was super calm and wind free so at least we got a good sleep. In the morning we walked along couple of other lakes that we could also admire from above once we finished the first climb of the day. We were walking in the Desolation Wilderness where bears should be pretty active – so we were told – but haven’t seen one yet. At the top we did a little snack break and took couple of photos of a heart shaped lake. Very cool. Although we have entered the Northern California the surroundings still reminded me of the Sierras and I definitely wasn’t mad about that. Once we left the Desolation wilderness everything started slowly changing. There were a lot of meadows with green plants and nice forests. 

We still had several miles to go but 3 miles (4.8lm) before our planned tentsite we got to a road and what did not we see – trail magic! As we later found out trail angels “Legend” and “Bea” have been following the hikers up the trail and making spaghetti for dinner and pancakes for breakfast. Here goes our plan. We stayed there for a little bit longer than planned and who are we to say no to breakfast pancakes. So in the end we decided to camp there and catch up on those 3 miles tomorrow. You never know when there’s trail magic and well the trail isn’t going anywhere. After all it’s nice to be flexible and enjoy these little moments when they happen to come because you never know when and where the next trail magic might be.
