Today is day 100. 100 days that I have been on this insane journey across the US and what a journey it has been. Although we “only” did 22.5 miles today (36km) it feels like we did so much more. I honestly can’t wait to take a zero this weekend and almost a zero tomorrow because we are getting into Burney tomorrow at around 9am already. Today was a good day, the trail was almost flat all the time but the crazy heat made us really exhausted. Sometimes I ask myself why am I putting myself through all of this and exactly on those days I remind myself the “whys”. Today we also hit the 1 400 mile marker and that is 2 240km. I couldn’t be more proud of how far I have come and what my body has accomplished thus far.  Thinking we only have about two months left makes me feel a lot of ways.

I do miss my family and friends like crazy but this journey has been teaching me a lot too. Sure, there are moments or maybe even days when I would rather do something else or be somewhere else (especially when it’s crazy hot) but ultimately I am happy to be here. It’s been a dream of mine for so long and I knew it wouldn’t be an easy journey. It’s more than 4 000 km for god’s sake but it’s so much more than putting one foot in front of the other. All the people both locals and fellow hikers sharing their experience, all the fuckups or ups&downs make it so much more special and memorable. So no matter if I have 50 or 70 days left I want to make the most of the time I still have left. Now let’s get some rest in Burney!
