Me and Stefi left the church at 7am and went to the main road to try and get a hitch back to the trail. It did not take long and a couple in a van stopped and took us to the trail. The kindness of some people will still not cease to amaze me. By 7:30am we were back on trail and for a while it was still nice flat and flowy. After 3 hours we made it to the Burney Falls. A worth while side trip to the beautiful waterfall. As someone who has been to Iceland and has seen a great number of waterfalls I thought I would be rather disappointed but on the contrary. The Burney Falls were gorgeous. Moreover, we saw a little rainbow above the water which made everything even more stunning. We alsp stopped by the local general store and got some hot dogs for lunch. At 12:30pm we had to get going because we still had quite a few miles to go. There were some climbs but after that nice zero we were well rested and full of energy. 

In the afternoon we were going through a forest when all of a sudden Stefi stopped and I saw a black thing crossing the trail maybe 50 meters in front of us. It was a black bear! First bear that we got to see on trail. Once he got off trail he stopped, posed for us and then continued further down. It was probably a younger one and surprisingly we were not that terrified since he was in a safe distance. I would even say Stefi almost lost it because she has been dying to see one since the beginning of the hike. It was truly a cool experience to see a wild animal in its natural habitat. There’s nothing more than freedom and although I get the educational reasons I will always be to some extent against ZOOs and other places that keep wild animals captive. Once we got to our nice tentsite at a top of a mountain we could enjoy the view of Mount Shasta for the first time. A same called town where we are headed and should arrive in a few days.
