DAY 53 – One of those (down) days

EN (for Czech scroll down):

Since we organized a trail angel to give us a ride at 6am, we had to get up at 5am already. Super early I know. I took a quick shower hoping it would wake me up but no success. My feet were still quite sore so I took an ibuprofen. The trail angel arrived at 6am on the dot and after 20min we were back on trail. Today was still supposed to be hot but thankfully the sun was still behind the mountain once we started hiking. We only had food for two days but almost 4 liters of water so the packs were still heavy. In 2,5 days we will make it to Kennedy Meadows – the official ending of the desert section. Still feels unreal to be even writing it down but today we’ve passed 666 miles (1 065,6km) and that means we have done 25% of the whole PCT. Like I said, unreal. Even the days are flying so fast. Like us sometimes.

We were all pretty tired today and the heat wasn’t really helping. During our lunch break we all took a little nap and then continued. It was also first day on trail with my new shoes and I must say they feel quite nice. Hopefully my feet – heels specifically – will get better since there’s more cushioning again and I even got some heel lifters from Ann. Next time I need to change the shoes a bit earlier otherwise the heel pain will be slowing me down. It is something I can deal with but once there is a physical discomfort it definitely messes up with the mental aspect a bit as well and unless there is something really serious, I don’t want to quit earlier. I still have 75% to go. In the afternoon we heard our first thunderstorm in the distance but luckily we weren’t caught up in it. Before 6pm we arrived to our tensite – again, there were some other hikers as well – but this time all of us set up their tents because there were a lot of mosquitoes all around us. Okay mostly around Ann and Stefi (hoping taking B-complex somehow made me undesirable to their liking).  We quickly ate our dinner, I stretched my feet and then it was finally bedtime.

CZ:

Stejně jako my někdy.

Všichni jsme dneska byli nějak unavení a horko nám moc nepomáhalo. Během polední pauzy jsme si všichni trochu zdřímli a pak jsme pokračovali.
