In the morning we said goodbye to Sienad who decided to quit due to her knee pain and catch the bus and then a flight to Europe to visit her grandma before heading down under. It’s super sad another tramily member has left, I will definitely miss her. After we packed our stuff Chris – a former PCT hiker – gave us and some other hikers lift back to the trailhead. It’s been probably 4th time seeing him in a town along the trail and somehow we always meet him at the best time. Sometimes it can be pretty difficult getting back to trail from a town stop. Usually you have to organize a trail angel or rarely catch a bus. In Mammoth we could have caught a local trolley but Chris was a faster and definitely funnier option. 

Once we were back at the trailhead it took us 3.5 miles again (5.6km) to get to the trail where we left off. It was a bit cloudy today but the temperature was perfect for hiking. The other tramily that was with us in Chris’ van hung out with us for a while but in the afternoon I decided to continue with Stefi and Croco since the others wanted to check out local hot springs. We got to our tentsite pretty late tonight – around 7:30pm. Since there were no mosquitoes me and Croco decided to cowboy camp. We enjoyed a warm dinner and shortly after the others caught up on us as well. Tomorrow we will summit one of the last passes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It’s crazy how fast the time in the mountains went by. I will definitely miss them.
