Since me and Stefi had to go to the post office today that would open at noon, we decided to sleep a bit longer (till 7am!) and have a slow morning. The others including Ann and Lorenz went back on trail already in the morning. We will probably meet them in a couple of days but right now we are actually pretty happy there is just the two of us. The past week was a bit hectic with trying to coordinate a lot of people at once. Once the others left I took a shower and then we packed our stuff. We chatted with Connie for a bit and then we went to a nearby Starbucks where we got a coffee. I bought myself a solution for my contact lenses and called my mom in the meantime. We also got a thank you card for Connie and her husband Ron. Afterwards we took the bus to the post office where we spent an unhealthy amount of time – 2 freaking hours. They did not want to bounce to of my boxes so I had to reorganize everything and sent one of them to a friend of mine. At least one dress that I ordered was waiting here for me. A little gift for myself for making it this far and also something I can wear during town days.
In the afternoon Connie was so nice to give us a ride back to the trail. South Lake Tahoe was a lovely place and since there is couple of ski resorts around as well I definitely wouldn’t mind coming back at some point. Me and Stefi started hiking at around 3:30pm and well those packs were once again quite heavy. We started slowly and after a mile (1.6km) we passed the Echo Lake where we got a quick snack. We wanted to do 10 miles (16km) today but since it was already getting lake we decided to camp at the Aloha Lake – a beautiful lake with a lot of camping possibilities. We found a really nice spot for our two tents and cooked us some tortellini. It was a great (stress free) day. Just what we needed. Moreover, we entered a new section on the trail – Northern California. Let’s go!
